Prep's New Faculty for 2005-2006

Flintridge Prep added ten new members for the 2005-2006 academic year. The new faculty includes fresh young faces as well ones with long and distinguished careers.

Dr. Stanley Sheinkopf joins Prep's English Department after teaching for 19 years at Pasadena 's Polytechnic School. Reed Moran also joins the English Department's middle school faculty and will teach 8th grade English and 7th grade composition.

John Romano Veteran educator, John Romano, assumes the chairmanship of the Mathematics Department with a distinguished administrative and teaching career in both mathematics and computer sciences. Sara Fischer, also new in the Math Department, will teach Algebra and computer science, while also coaching girls basketball.

Kristina Bell The Foreign Language Department adds two new members. Kristina Bell comes to Prep with both high school teaching and college lecture experience. She will teach upper division Spanish courses this year. Brad Miller joins Prep from Polytechnic School and will teach Latin along with serving as 11th grade dean and head football coach.

Sean Beattie In the Physical Education Department, Prep's students will experience the energy and enthusiasm of three new faces Sean Beattie, previously a walk-on coach, will instruct physical education and coach three varsity sports - girls volleyball, boys soccer and boys volleyball. Julie Jaime arrives from the University of Oregon with championship Division I softball experience. She will coach and teach both middle and upper school physical education. Also joining Prep's physical education faculty is Esteban Chavez. Mr. Chavez has significant experience in soccer and track & field and is a professional trainer. In addition to teaching physical education and coaching, he will serve as Prep's full-time sports trainer.

In the Fine Arts Department, Betty Urban returns to Prep as a full-time member of the Prep faculty after serving as an interim art instructor for most of the 2004-2005 academic year. She came to Prep following a decades-long career as the owner of an advertising agency. Before that, she taught art in New York state at The Park School of Buffalo.

Laura Berger Last, but not least, Laura Berger returns to Prep's Science Department after a two year hiatus earning her masters degree in Biology at the University of California at Davis. Ms Berger will teach science in the middle and upper school and serve as 7th grade dean.

Flintridge Prep is extremely proud of these talented and distinguished new faculty members. On their part, they are eager to contribute to Prep's reputation as a faculty second to none. Prep also wishes the best to former faculty who have left for new experiences and challenges. Retiring from Prep last year after 26 years of service, Dr. Annabelle Treacy and her husband Jim are enjoying their Fall in their new home in Hawaii. Best wishes also to Josh Moran, Marty Konrad, Ben Moran and Jennifer Lashier.
