Human Development
Headline

Flintridge Preparatory School regards human development as equally important to intellectual development.

The Human Development program encourages compassion, conscience, and self-understanding as essential components of living a full and responsible life. Human Development at Prep exists formally through programs, and informally through the web of student, teacher, and family relationships that exist in our community. One of the most visible manifestations of our commitment to Human Development is through the adoption of an honor code that defines campus life by emphasizing honesty, respect, kindness, and generosity.

Five special programs form the basic structure of Human Development. These include Peer Counseling, Community Service, Outdoor Education, Retreats, and the Annual Initiative, a school-wide examination of issues of concern for the school community.

The indirect result of these programs is a culture of mentorship, participation, and leadership. A variety of programs created by and for students offer opportunities for older and younger members of the student body to interact on a regular basis.
