College Counseling
Flintridge Preparatory School offers a rigorous, moral, and intimate learning environment, nurturing in its students the skills, knowledge, values, and inspiration essential to a rewarding college experience, a lifelong embrace of education, a devotion to community, and a full and responsible life. — Flintridge Preparatory School Mission Statement
Prep’s college counseling program has one simple goal: Finding colleges where you will thrive. The search process is personal and it reflects your goals and interests.
An intensive process of self-assessment is combined with wide-ranging research to identify the colleges and universities that best match each student’s objectives, strengths, and values. With four experienced counselors on staff to work with only 100 seniors, every student is assured a customized and highly supported experience. Choosing a college can take a bit of time and effort on the part of the students, their parents, and their counselors. That’s because one size doesn't fit all.
Our program begins in tenth grade with meetings and workshops for students and their parents to review college admissions and standardized testing materials. Juniors and seniors meet individually with members of the college counseling staff and take weekly classes that answer students’ questions and help them understand application requirements. Our open door policy encourages students to drop by at any time with questions or concerns—or just to chat about the choices and changes ahead.
