Human Development

Peer counseling, community service, outdoor education, and retreats define our school culture.

Cultivate Compassion, Caring, and Conscience

Peer counseling, community service, outdoor education, and retreats define our school culture. Excellent academics comprise part of the experience. At Prep, we believe mentorship, participation, and leadership are also at the heart of an excellent education.

As a student at Prep, you'll be nurtured through middle school and high school to be open-minded, responsible, empathetic adults. We call this part of your education human development, and it encompasses those characteristics that come to mind when we think of the people we most admire: self-awareness, honesty, generosity, active service to others, respect and kindness. Our honor code is truly a statement that everyone in our entire community students, faculty, administrators and parents is proud to affirm.

In addition to these programs, the Annual Initiative is a school-wide examination of issues of concern for the school community. For an entire school year, students, teachers, parents, and members of the Board of Trustees explore an important topic in depth, and incorporate the results of their analysis into school policy where appropriate. In 2008-09 the topic was Mentorship within the School. A multiyear Diversity Initiative was recently adopted.
