Prep’s Inaugural Film and Music Festival Fills Campus
On Friday, May 7th, the artistic spirit roared back onto the Prep Campus with the introduction of the First Annual Prep Film and Music Festival. Guests were entertained by musical performances and films, and also viewed work by students in AP Drawing and Painting and AP Photo.
Lugene El-Harazi ’11 teamed up with Matt Grobar ’10 and Dyllan Fernandez ’10 to bring this event to the Prep community. The festivities kicked off with musical performances that included Jasper Ryden ’12, Ryan Loui ’11, Will Guthrie ’12, Kevin Flynn ’10, Anina Denove ’10, and many others.
To complement the great music, food was provided by the Frysmith Food Truck - a shock to those who thought fries could only be a side dish. Entrees included such interesting dishes as Raja Fries, Kimchi fries, and Chicken Sweet Potatoes fries.
After the music, guests strolled through the Chandramohan Library to admire the numerous art pieces on display, including photography of Southeast Asia, pencil illustrations, and ceramic animal sculptures. Finally, guests were treated to a selection of student-produced films that ranged from funny mockumentaries to melodramatic film noire.
The festival proved to be a resounding success with the promise of continuing the Prep tradition of creativity in the future.
