Track and Field Team Competes in CIF Prelims, Advances 5 Athletes to Finals

The Rebels headed up the coast last Saturday to compete in the CIF Prelims meet at Carpinteria High School. For track events, James Bradley ’12 advanced to the CIF Finals meet in the 800m run, going the distance in 2:00.74. His brother Barrett Weiss ’15 will join him at the Finals meet, with a qualifying height of 11’6”. In shot put, West Nowotny ’13 took 3rd place, throwing 48’11”. Congratulations to all the coaches and athletes for their accomplishments this season! The qualifying athletes will compete in the CIF Finals meet this Saturday, May 19th at Mt. Sac.

Prep’s Divers Have a Bright Future Ahead

When Madi Witt ’15 took 1st place at CIF Prelims last Friday, and teammate Kyla Bradley ’15 placed 8th, the Rebels looked positioned to make a huge impression at the Finals meet the following day. Nevertheless, Poly’s lead diver, a senior, maintained a close lead on Witt going into the Finals. On Saturday, Poly’s diver managed to outscore Witt, who took 2nd, while Bradley placed above her Prelims position. Head Coach Ryan Goto says he’s never seen anyone score as high as Witt did during the Prelims meet. With three more years of diving ahead of them, Witt and Bradley will undoubtedly be at the top of diving in the Prep League.
