Dear Community Member,
We are aware that the CDC’s relaxation of its guidance on masks has caused confusion, and we want to remind all community members that we must continue to follow the guidelines set by the California Department of Public Health and the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. The county doesn’t expect to change its mask recommendations until June 15.
A well-fitted mask must be worn at all times. Masks may be removed to eat and drink but should be immediately replaced. These policies will remain in place through the rest of the school year, as well as at our end-of-year celebrations on and off campus.
Air Quality Update
With the fire season upon us, we want to inform our community of our policy regarding air quality management. County COVID-19 guidelines say that school HVAC systems should be set to maximize indoor/outdoor air exchange unless outdoor conditions (recent fire, very high outside temperature, high pollen count, etc.) make this inappropriate.
Flintridge Prep uses two sources to determine air quality, AQMD and Air Now. If the air quality reaches an AQI (air quality index) of 150, we will close windows and doors in order to minimize the impact of poor air quality while maintaining our ventilation consultant’s recommended number of air changes per hour. Many rooms have been equipped with air purifiers to further filter air in the event that a local fire impacts air quality on campus.
