Flintridge Prep administers the Authentic Connections High Achieving Schools Survey, a comprehensive 30-minute assessment that examines all facets of student life, including mental health and resilience, multiple dimensions of diversity, equity, and inclusion, and key aspects of school climate such as peer relationships, parent relationships, and students’ sense of belonging. The survey also includes student free-responses, which are carefully analyzed and distilled into prioritized themes. This data-informed approach helps us listen intentionally, identify areas for growth, and strengthen our commitment to building an inclusive and supportive community for every student.

Flintridge Prep's Black & Latinx Applicant Family Reception invites all families to experience our community firsthand. The event includes conversations with student leaders from BRIDGE (Belonging, Respect, Inclusion, Diversity, and Growth), Black Student Union, and Latino Club, as well as presentations from school leadership, current students, and parents. Through panels highlighting athletics, arts, student life, and community engagement—followed by dedicated breakout spaces for families and students to connect with peers—this event creates meaningful opportunities for dialogue, questions, and relationship-building. By intentionally creating space for families to engage authentically with our community, we reaffirm our commitment to equity, access, and a culture of belonging.

Flintridge Prep faculty and administrators actively engage in ongoing professional learning to strengthen diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging across all areas of school life. Through conferences, workshops, and professional development programs on and beyond campus, our educators deepen their understanding of inclusive pedagogy, culturally responsive practices, and equitable leadership. This continued growth ensures that our classrooms, policies, and community norms evolve thoughtfully. By investing in adult learning, we reinforce our commitment to creating a school environment where every student feels seen, supported, and valued.

This year, Flintridge Prep will host the California Teacher Development Collaborative (CADTC) Southern California Teaching Symposium, bringing educators together for professional development that includes a range of presentations including several on diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.

Building on our DEIB “why” statement that committee members created last year, we continue considering how best to be responsible to and celebrate each other on campus. 

Working Groups do research on policies and programs, sharing discoveries with faculty and staff and making recommendations to senior administration.

Pollyanna's dynamic, interactive conference model provides guidance and training for participants, with the goal of strengthening diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging at each school.

Each year, Flintridge Prep attends the three-day, two-night SLIDE (Student Leaders for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity) Leadership Development Program. 9th-12th grade students from participating schools gather for fellowship, leadership development, courageous conversations, and the creation of a sustainable action plan around topics of diversity, equity, inclusion, justice, and belonging. 

As part of our commitment to building and sustaining a diverse, equitable, and inclusive, community, Flintridge Prep participates annually in Southern California Diversity Recruiting Fair. 

Through our involvement in this fair, we aim not only to recruit talented educators and professionals, but also to cultivate a community where multiple identities, backgrounds, and viewpoints are welcomed, supported, and empowered to thrive.

Flintridge Prep is proud to co-host the San Gabriel Valley & Pasadena Area Black & Latinx Admissions Outreach Event with La Salle College Preparatory and other local private schools. This event is designed to support all families exploring independent school options in the San Gabriel Valley and Pasadena area. Attendees have the chance to meet admissions representatives, hear from current community members, and learn details about the admissions and financial aid application process.

Flintridge Prep administrators meet several times each year with the Targeted Outreach Group to listen deeply and learn directly from the lived experiences of families in our community. The purpose of these meetings is to create a space for candid dialogue about visibility, communication, representation, and belonging—particularly as they relate to how the school presents itself, supports students, and engages with the broader community. Through these conversations, parents provide essential perspective on how our outreach, storytelling, digital presence, and community partnerships can more fully reflect and affirm the experiences of Black and Latinx students and families.
