Beyond the Books: Meet Chelsea Larson, Our Head Librarian

When you walk into the Chandramohan Library & Learning Commons, you might spot Head Librarian Chelsea Larson chatting with a student about their latest read or helping someone find a quiet corner to focus. With a goal of ensuring that everyone who visits the library leaves feeling great about the experience, Ms. Larson is here to foster community.

Chelsea holds a Master of Library and Information Science from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, an MA in Social and Cultural Analysis from New York University, and a BA in Global Liberal Studies from NYU. Before joining Flintridge Prep, she led library programs at The Galloway School in Atlanta and at International Community School in Singapore, with a focus on integrating research in the curriculum, inclusive curation, and student-centered learning.

“I saw Prep as a place where I could help create something lasting,” Chelsea says. “The new library was a huge part of that vision—but what truly inspired me was the shared excitement among faculty and administration to make the library a welcoming space for everyone.” She is transforming the library into a hub where every member of the Flintridge Prep community can find books for assignments, quiet nooks for focused work, collaborative spaces for group projects, or activities for when students just need to reset. “I want the community to trust me as a person so that they trust me as a professional,” she explains. “I believe that if the community knows who I am outside the library, they’re 100% more likely to accept my support and assistance inside the library.”
