Flintridge Prep hosts Southern California Teaching Symposium: Creating Connections

Campus was abuzz on Monday at our very first Southern California Teaching Symposium: Creating Connections, hosted in partnership with CATDC. Over 110 regional independent school educators from 20 different schools gathered for a day that lived up to its promise of promoting joyful connections. The symposium offerings included sessions on how to help students feel seen and supported, and to promote their intellectual growth and leadership development. Our Flintridge Prep faculty were there in force, with 20 teachers across disciplines sharing their expertise and strategies.

Head of School Vanessa Walker-Oakes notes, “This was an opportunity for our school to live our value of centering excellence in teaching and igniting inquiry. This moment reflects Associate Head of School Sarah Cooper’s long-held vision for how teachers can collaborate to create classrooms where they truly engage their students.”

Our thanks to Sarah for her year-long dedication to this professional growth opportunity, as well as to all the faculty and staff who helped make it such a success. Thanks also to our student panelists, who spoke about the activities and approaches that nurture their engagement.
