A full picture of the Eaton Fire’s impact had yet to emerge as the student leaders of FLINT began to collect items for impacted families at co-chair Elizabeth Guyer ’26’s home. What began as a modest extension of the FLINT Bazaar blossomed into something much bigger when Elizabeth reached out to Flintridge Prep board member Jenett Chow P ’22 and ’26, who was working on a relief effort of her own. Last week, FLINT joined forces with the Jellypop and Evolution Design Lab (EDL) co-CEO to open the Relief Boutique at Chow’s EDL headquarters in Old Town Pasadena. The effort wasn’t just a way for students to connect more deeply with the community: It offered a tremendous learning opportunity. The effort was aided by members of Project Ripples, an arts-forward student nonprofit founded by Commissioner General Carl Li ’25, and dozens of student and parent volunteers. Elizabeth thanked FLINT members Jaycee Sullivan ’26, Vanessa Hsu ’25, and Naomi Cohen ’25, and the many students, parents, faculty, and staff members who showed up to work the shop. In addition to items collected by FLINT, Chow and her team coordinated with various companies to secure new item donations, including Jellypop, Reef, IPSY, Babyletto, True Food Kitchen, Crocs, Wish Upon a Toy, Steve Madden, Trina Turk, Two Ten Foundation, Alo, Manna Kadar Beauty, Banana Republic, and Youth Philanthropy Council. |
