Each year, nearly eight million students compete in high school athletics across the U.S., yet only 2.8% will play Division I sports in college. On December 9, Flintridge Prep hosted a signing day celebration for seven seniors who beat those odds. Representing 6% of the Class of 2026, these athletes committed to compete at the Division I level.

Scarlett C. ’26 | Track & Field | Yale
Valentina R. ’26 | Soccer | Mercer University

Despite the day centering on their accomplishments at Flintridge Prep, these young athletes flipped the script, thanking the teammates, loved ones, and coaches who supported them and saw potential in them before they did themselves.

"Thank you, Coach Natalie Rajmaira, for seeing something in this freshman," Scarlett C. '26 shared. "Your patience and genuine belief in my abilities changed my entire track trajectory. I believe your love of the sport sparked my shared passion." The theme of belief resonated through Declan M. '26 to pay tribute to Coach Scott Jung as well. "I would not be the runner I am today. You've always had faith in my ability, and that is what I'm most thankful for."

Maddie S. '26 reflected, "Choosing Flintridge Prep is a decision I will always be proud of, and I'm grateful that this community has taught me how to be a better player and leader."
These testimonials reveal why Flintridge Prep's 6% exceeds the national average. Flintridge Prep coaches invest in every athlete's journey. Whether competing at the Division 1 level or discovering leadership in other ways, our athletes graduate knowing someone truly believes in them. Congratulations to our seven signees. We look forward to watching you compete at the next level.
