Celebrating Connections

By Camila Ryder

Follow the journey of the Class of 2026, the Class of 2022, and our alumni classes as they mark special milestones in their lives, with Prep at the heart of each of them.

Welcome to High School, Class of 2026!

Our Class of 2026 marked their transition from middle school to 9th grade at the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. Class speaker Aberdeen Callaway ’26 congratulated her classmates on their exponential growth from shy 7th graders to seasoned middle school leaders.

“I have all the confidence in the world that we will make it through high school together, relying on each other, looking to each other for support, having fun while we balance sports, arts, and academics,” Callaway said.

Promotion speaker and trustee John W. Wong ’85 encouraged each student to “find your superpower and those of others that are your friends and classmates. Be open to friendships with new people. Use your empathetic muscle to imagine life from someone else’s perspective.”

Congratulations to the Class of 2022!

The Class of 2022 marked their last moments as high school students in a series of celebrations. Trustees Srinivas J. Sarma ’89 and Jim Notley '88 and student speakers emphasized taking risks, venturing into the unknown, finding compassion for one another, and supporting each other.

As the Class of 2022 begins this new chapter, we hope they will do so knowing they remain deeply connected to each other for life.

“I hope that we can continue to ground ourselves in our principles, even and especially when they force us to wrestle with conflict.”
Lotte Brush ’22, Founder’s Trophy Recipient
“All of us need to explore the places no one else wants to explore and dare to think the things no one else thinks of thinking. But most important of all, all of us need to seek out and connect with the people at the margins.”
Ashwin Sivakumar ’22, Benton Memorial Award Recipient
“The community that the Class of 2022 has created amongst each other is a community...that challenges each other each and every day to be people who will leave an impact in our own communities in the years to come.”
Shane O’Neill ’22, Class Speaker

200+ Alumni Celebrate Connections to Prep

More than 200 alumni from 1945 to 2002 celebrated together on Memorial Athletic Field on May 21, catching up with friends and classmates, swapping stories about their families, careers, and happenings, and waxing nostalgic about their Prep experiences.

“Our class had a ball! I loved that we were with other classes—we got to connect with friends on either side!” shares Scott Lochridge ’71, who celebrated his 50th reunion.

“Prep bonds transcend class years, from friendships built through sports, clubs, plays, and more,” says Director of Alumni Relations Jacqueline Epley Tegart ’97 (who celebrated her 25th). “We plan to invite all alumni to reunions going forward!”

Reunited, 75 Years Later

Our Class of 2022 graduates might be wondering if they’ll stay in touch with Prep friends long after graduation. Just ask Wally Reed ’45 and Warren Cutting ’46, who attended their 75th Reunion. They met as freshman in 1942. The two caught up on a lifetime of memories, holding court at the 1940s–1960s tables as alums from many class years stopped by to chat.

We hope the Class of 2022 stays connected all the way into 2097—we'll see you at your 75th Reunion!
