Boys cross country ran in their first event of the season on Saturday at the Cool Breeze Invitational at the Pomona Fairgrounds. They had a solid showing, finishing 17th out of 40 competing schools. The team’s next meet is the Laguna Beach Invitational on Saturday, September 9.
Girls cross country has been practicing hard and the team is very excited about its first meet Saturday, September 9, at 8:45 a.m. at the Laguna Hills Invitational at Laguna Hills High School.
Football played a great game at the Cate School last Saturday, where both teams took turns holding the lead. The Wolves took a 3-point lead going into halftime in a very physical game. In the end, Cate had one final play to score and the Wolves' defense held strong, getting an interception to seal the win 44-42. This win brings their record to 2-0 to start the year. Their next game will be this Friday, September 8, vs. Mammoth High School at 6 p.m. on our field. We hope to see you there.
Girls tennis had three games postponed for various reasons, but the team will play its first three games this week! The team has been practicing hard and started the season with an away game on Tuesday vs. Sierra Canyon. The Wolves will host their next two games, where they will play Milken Community on Wednesday, September 6, and Flintridge Sacred Heart on Friday, September 8, both at Scholl Canyon, starting at 3:15 p.m. We hope you can make it out to see them play!
Girls volleyball played three tough league games last week vs. Mayfield, Poly, and Providence. The team fought hard on the road against Mayfield, but lost in four tough sets 1-3. The Wolves traveled to Poly where they ran into a solid Panther team and, despite their best efforts, lost 0-3. We then hosted Providence last Friday in a great back-and-forth battle, where the Wolves pulled out a four-set victory 3-1. This brings theteam’s overall record to 8-3 and its league record to 2-2. The next game will be away on Wednesday, September 6, at Chadwick at 4:30 p.m.
Boys water polo played two big non-league games last week. We hosted South Pasadena High School on Thursday in what was a tight start to the game. The Wolves' offense proved too strong for South Pasadena, and the team came away with a 15-8 victory. The team then traveled to La Cañada High School on Friday and showed they were the better team from start to finish, winning 18-8. This brings the Wolves' record to 4-4 for the season. The Wolves' next games will be on Tuesday, September 5, at Temple City at 3:30 p.m. and on Friday, September 8, at home vs. St. Francis at 3:30 p.m.
