Weekly Sports Roundup - January 11

The girls soccer team has been off to a great start and were looking to add to that over break as they traveled to the Oceanside tournament. The Wolves played well, coming away with a 2-1 record, beating two teams from out of state, Kofa and Basha, and losing a tough game to Mission Hills 2-1. Next, they won two non-league games vs. El Rancho and Legacy College Prep. This brings their record to 9-2-2 overall and 1-0-1 in league. The next game is today at 4:30 p.m., Wednesday, January 11 vs. Poly @ St. Francis.

The boys soccer played in a tough La Cañada tournament over winter break and went 1-1-1, despite missing a few key players. The Wolves dropped their opening game to La Cañada, but bounced back in a great performance to beat Simi Valley high School. This put the Wolves into the third place game vs. Monrovia. The Wolves got off to a great start and held the lead for most of the game, but Monrovia came back to tie the game and eventually win on penalty kicks. This brings the Wolves' record to 3-3-2 overall and 0-0-1 in league. The Wolves played Providence on Tuesday.

The girls water polo team played their last game during midterms and beat Westridge 12-4. A solid win for the team, all team members were able to get in the water and help contribute to the victory. This brings the Wolves' record to 6-5 and 2-1 in league. The Wolves are back in action this week with three league games, Tuesday, January 10 vs. La Salle, Wednesday, January 11 vs. Chadwick away, and Friday, January 13 vs. Mayfield away.

The boys basketball team has been playing great to start the year and continued to do so in the South Pasadena basketball ball tournament over break. The Wolves' first game was vs. El Camino Real High School and played a great all-around game winning 57-36.  The strong play continued as they won their next two matches over Burroughs High School and Palmdale High School to put them into the finals for the tournament. In the finals they took on Crescenta Valley High School and played a very solid game, with the score remaining close. Unfortunately, the Wolves fell just short of winning the tournament, losing the game 52-53. This brings the Wolves' record to 13-5 overall and 2-0 in league. The next game is Friday, January 13 at 7:30 p.m. vs Providence at home.

The girls basketball team was looking to continue their great start to the season in the La Cañada tournament over the winter break. In this tournament the Wolves played Notre Dame High School in the first round and beat them 71-52 in what was a sign of things to come. The team continued to put up big numbers and took down Arleta 59-40, La Cañada 51-31, and Village Christian 51-23 to win the tournament. The team has played great all year and it was nice to see all members contribute to the wins during the tournament. This brings the Wolves' record to 16-1 overall and 3-0 in league. The next game is today vs. Village Christian away and Friday vs. Providence at 6:00 p.m. at home.
