Flintridge Preparatory School is actively monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak and will send out regular correspondence to keep the community updated and informed. This webpage will also be regularly updated. Flintridge Prep will look to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organization (WHO), the California Department of Public Health, the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, and a consortium of local independent schools to make the most informed and appropriate decisions.
May 8 Communication
“You do look, my son, in a moved sort,
As if you were dismay’d: be cheerful, sir.”
As we head into our final week of classes together, we might, as Shakespeare’s Prospero advises, try to live in the moment and at a distance with perspective at the same time. Thoreau helps us marinate in the details of today, while Shakespeare invites us to look through the wider lens that sums up the entire year. So lose yourselves in the richness of each precious minute of learning and laughing and loving in each class, while appreciating the year’s journey together.
“On the third or fourth of May I saw a loon in the pond, and during the first week of the month I heard the whip-poor-will, the brown thrasher, the veery, the wood pewee, the chewink, and other birds.”
Henry David Thoreau
