Who will you be when you graduate?
What a gift to have a window into multiple perspectives and to be a part of optimistic work as a college counselor and advocate. The college process is a transformational time in a young person’s life, a time to look inward and take note of the impact one person can have within a community. Sure, the college process is nuanced and complex, but aren’t most valuable experiences in life? Julie Lythcott-Haims, author of How to Raise an Adult, inspires us to stay clear of living a checklist childhood, pushing readers to embrace the importance of allowing children to make their own mistakes and develop resilience, resourcefulness and inner determination.
The college counseling team walks alongside their students, encouraging them to engage in genuine ways; to be kind to themselves and to nurture intellectual curiosity. The college matriculations each year are the byproduct of our department’s work in identifying the appropriate balance and fit for each student. Inspiring students to be the best versions of themselves, while strategically guiding them through the college application process, is our mission.
