Happy Friday, everyone!
In case we missed you at the Family BBQ, Prep held a small ceremony honoring the jersey retirement of pro soccer player Brooke Elby ’11. Her accomplishments at UNC and on a few pro teams—currently the Chicago Red Stars—give Prep so much to be proud of. Read more here!
The last couple weeks have had some ups and downs for Prep athletes. Starting with cross country, Carson Hasbrouck ’19 came in 9th place at the Palos Verdes Invitational, followed by Bennett Oakes ’21 in 19th. The team placed 5th, a comfortable 41 points above 6th place Downey. Both the girls’ and boys’ sides head to the Clovis Invitational this Saturday—results to come!
Boys water polo heads toward its Pack the Place game TODAY, October 5, against Brentwood in Prep’s home pool. They’re currently riding a 3-win streak against St. Francis, Mark Keppel, and La Salle. Come support the boys and help them keep their streak going.
After a couple pre-season wins, girls tennis has had a rough start to League play. Two 12-6 losses to Mayfield and Westridge were followed by a 14-4 loss against Chadwick. They take on Providence on Tuesday, October 9, and then Mayfield and Westridge again next week. Come cheer on the girls as they try for a rally week.
Girls volleyball ended a 3-win streak (against Pomona Catholic, Lake Arrowhead Christian, and Gabrielino) with a 0-1 loss against Saugus and a 3-1 loss against Mayfield. A 3-0 win over Rio Hondo brought their League record to 4-6 and overall record to 11-7. They face Poly and Chadwick in their remaining League matches before they hope for a place in the CIF playoffs.
