Headmaster Peter Bachmann’s second book, Advancing Confidently, is available! The book provides a series of profiles of Bachmann’s former teachers and students, illustrating the liberal arts character benefits of individuals who have demonstrated the courage and conviction to, in Thoreau’s words, “advance confidently in the direction of their dreams.” Each story is a celebration of independent thought and action, traits essential to 21st century success.
Written in memory of Scott Studenmund ’08, a Green Beret who gave his life in service of his country, the book is a celebration of those who aren’t afraid to take risks to follow their passions. It also reinforces Flintridge Prep’s mission to support the ethos of a balanced liberal arts education and to prepare students for life.
Some of the book’s subjects include current teacher Mark Salzman, Tom Flynn ’06, Chris Linick ’03, Megan Kimble ’04, Rachel Tobias ’07, Naomi Hatanaka ’11, Carolyn Ting ’03, Deborah Abeles ’96, Vasu Sarma ’89, Bryan Denton ’01, Scott Studenmund ’08 and Dennis Lowe ’08.
Copies of the book are available for free at the school front office during business hours. Copies can be purchased from Amazon or at Flintridge Books in La Cañada.
Stay tuned for details about a book signing scheduled for Thursday, September 29 at Flintridge Books.
