Friday Sports Roundup: Girls Basketball Dominates Their Way Into Playoffs
Posted 02/10/2017 03:57PM

Happy Friday, Prep fans!

(How is it that each time we meet it’s raining?)

Girls basketball has officially dominated their way into the playoffs. This week’s 45-26 victory over Westridge solidified what we all already knew—these girls are unstoppable (literally! The season ended with a 12-0 League record). They’ll head to CIF, where they seek to repeat last year’s big championship win. Boys basketball pulled of an explosive win over Poly last week. The pack-the-place matchup was already high energy enough, but going into overtime made it a true nail-biter. Kendall Kikkawa ’17 put in an incredible performance in the final minutes, ending the game in a 51-45 total tally and solidifying their 6-2 League record. Girls soccer took down both Mayfield and Firebaugh last week, with 5-0 and 9-0 wins, respectively. In fact, the girls haven’t let in a single goal in the past five games, and 13 of their 25 total matchups have ended in shutouts. Boys soccer, too, had a successful week. Their rival matchup against Poly also resulted in a shutout, with a 3-0 final score. That’s two big wins against Poly in a row, ending their League play with a 5-1 record.

We’ll be entering CIF territory soon, where we look forward to reporting many more major Rebel victories to you. Check back to our Athletic Calendar to stay up-to-date on playoff times and locations. It’s shaping up to be an exciting post-season for our winter athletes.
